POSITION SUMMARY:

Children’s Council recognizes the need to create an ECE Equity Leadership Academy (ELA) to engage teams of early child care directors and administrators from across the city in (1) adopting an equity lens, (2) building institutional capacity, (3) creating community, and (4) sharing lessons learned with peer leaders. The Equity Leadership Coordinator is responsible for the development of culturally competent leadership trainings/workshops for executive-level early child care directors and administrators that center diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in its programming.

The Coordinator provides administrative oversight to the ELA program and acts as a liaison to Children’s Council staff, overseeing other early child care programs. The Coordinator supports all aspects of program implementation with the ELA.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create DEI training and workshop schedules for all ELA programing.
  • Track and create reports on outcomes for all workshops/training, and maintain training records for the department.
  • Gather and evaluate results from participants’ equity needs assessments for program design purposes.
  • Attend workshops and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques and use the knowledge to prepare and coordinate future training sessions with the Sr. Manager.
  • Develop DEI educational aids and materials; assist Sr. Manager in problem solving a variety of educational accessibility issues.
  • Review and analyze instructional effectiveness and prepare reports determining the impact of workshops with directors/administrators.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and liaise with consultants and subject matter experts regarding the program design.
  • Manage workforce registry database and training records.
  • Organize DEI train-the-trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts.
  • Support the Sr. Manager in developing and administering policies and procedures related program expectations and budgeting.
  • At the direction of the Senior Manager, attend Children’s Council and city-wide partner meetings and events.
  • Support the Sr. Manager in designing and coordinating a recruitment, enrollment, and orientation program; providing support in evaluating the ELA program, and making recommendations for changes/improvements.
  • Responsible for tracking enrollment, gathering program participation data, coordinating stipends, and completing reports.
  • Assist in monitoring and reviewing with the project spending.
  • At the direction of the Senior Manager, assume a lead role for events and programs for ELA participants.
  • Coordinates all program activities, develops promotional materials and advertising of events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years’ experience in a service-oriented role, preferably in local government or a non-profit organization
  • AA degree preferred
  • Excellent administrative/organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet multiple deadlines
  • Experience working with the African American/Black community preferred
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency and experience working with database entry and Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Knowledgeable about key principles and practices in DEI and ECE programs (or child development programs a plus)
  • Experience leading professional development workshops preferred
  • Ability to work independently in a structured environment
  • Flexibility to work an occasional evening or weekend

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of
  • Must be able to move throughout the office, access files, meet with clients, travel
  • Requires the mental acuity to perform the essential functions as outlined in an accurate and timely

Remote Work

This position is 100% remote as the nature of the role requires you to travel within San Francisco communities, working some evenings and weekends as needed. You will need to come into the office 1-day a month. All applicants should be comfortable with both the remote and in office scenarios.
