Claire Urry

Chief Commercial Officer at China-Britain Business Council

Claire Urry has extensive work experience primarily in the China-Britain business sector. Claire worked at the China-Britain Trade Group from 1994 to 1997 as a Project Manager, responsible for various trade missions, healthcare missions, and coordinating business delegations. In 1997, they joined the China-Britain Business Council as the Director of Operations, a role they held until 2002. During this time, they were responsible for establishing regional offices and overseeing the membership scheme. From 2002 to 2005, they worked as the Director of Membership and UK Regions at CBBC. In 2005, they became the Executive Director and continued in that position until 2020. Claire also held the role of Chief Commercial Officer at CBBC starting in 2020. Additionally, Claire Urry was a co-owner and Director at W H Urry and Sons Ltd from 2004 to 2020.

Claire Urry attended the University of Leeds from 1987 to 2001, where they obtained a BA Honours degree in Chinese & Portuguese. In 1990, they briefly studied Portuguese Language and Literature at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In 1988 and 1989, Claire studied Mandarin Chinese at Fudan University. Prior to their university education, they attended Queen Elizabeths Grammar School in Horncastle.
