Emily Masengale has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Emily currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Christel House Indianapolis since July 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Interim CEO at the same organization from March 2023 to July 2023. Emily also worked as an Assistant Executive Director at Christel House Indianapolis from July 2020 to July 2023.
Before joining Christel House, Emily served as the Founding Principal at Christel House Academy's DORS program from August 2011 to June 2020. Emily played a significant role in designing and writing the charter application for Christel House DORS, an adult high school that provides an alternative to GED/HSE programs.
Additionally, Emily worked as a Summer Principals Academy Internship Coach at Teachers College, Columbia University from July 2013 to August 2018. Emily also served as an i3 Grant Reviewer at the U.S. Department of Education in June 2017 and as an Assistant Principal at Indianapolis Public Schools from August 2010 to August 2011.
Emily's earlier experiences include being selected as an Indianapolis Principal Fellow at Columbia University Teachers College from 2010 to 2011 and serving as a Big Picture Academy Advisor/Teacher at St. Louis Public Schools from August 2007 to May 2010. Emily began their career in education as a Corps Member at Teach for America, where they taught in low-income communities and also served as a Transition Mentor for incoming corps members in St. Louis.
Emily's teaching experience includes working as a Special Education Teacher and Girls Soccer Coach at Roosevelt High School, where they achieved significant reading growth for their students through individualized lesson plans and coursework.
Emily Masengale completed their education at various institutions. Emily obtained a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2019 to 2022. Prior to that, they earned an MEd. in Organization and Leadership (Education) from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2010-2011, and an MA in Education Administration from Saint Louis University in 2008-2010. Emily'sundergraduate education includes a BA from Indiana University Bloomington in 2002-2006, focusing on Special Education with a minor in Leadership, Ethics, and Social Action. Emily also attended Center Grove from 1999 to 2002. In addition, Emily Masengale obtained certifications in ASU GSV Summit 2021 Attendee from ASU GSV Summit and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in 2021.
