Wesley Heaton

Wesley Heaton has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Wesley currently holds the role of Vice President of Technical Operations at Cidara Therapeutics, where they are responsible for overseeing technical operations. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director of Technical Operations at the same company.

Before joining Cidara Therapeutics, Heaton worked as the Director at TungstenPharma from 2020 to 2021. Wesley also held the position of Global (Ex US) Head of Industrialization at Mundipharma International Technical Operations Limited from 2018 to 2020. In this role, they led a team that provided pharmaceutical leadership support for commercial products manufactured within and outside the company.

Heaton's previous experience includes their tenure at GlaxoSmithKline Worthing, where they served as the Technical Development and Remediation Director from 2012 to 2017. Wesley was also a Project Leader and part of the New Product Introduction CoE at the same company. Additionally, they worked as the Sustainable Manufacture Chemistry Project Lead at GSK in Jurong, Singapore, from 2010 to 2012.

Earlier in their career, Heaton held positions such as Lead Chemist at GSK Dartford, Senior Medicinal Chemist at Sterix-Ipsen, and Medicinal Chemist at AstraZeneca R&D.

Overall, Heaton has extensive experience in technical operations, manufacturing, sustainability, and leadership roles within the pharmaceutical industry.

Wesley Heaton pursued their education in chemistry and organic chemistry. From 1997 to 2001, they attended the University of Salford where they obtained a MChem degree with a specialization in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry. Subsequently, from 2001 to 2004, Wesley obtained their PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde.
