Eric Reed

Senior Vice President & CTO - Global Infrastructure Services & IT Operations at Cigna

Eric Reed has extensive work experience in the IT industry. Eric started their career at GE Capital, Americas in 2006 as an IT Managing Director focused on Marketing/Sales and Business Intelligence. In this role, they worked closely with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) on key initiatives and collaborated with the Risk organization on data consistency and reporting.

From 2008 to 2009, Eric served as the CTO at GE Capital, Americas, where they drove IT strategy and initiatives related to Enterprise Architecture and infrastructure platforms. Eric led efforts to accelerate and standardize the Bank certification process, implemented security remediation measures, and improved disaster recovery solutions.

Eric continued their tenure at GE Capital as the CTO from 2011 to 2015, but this time on a global scale. Their responsibilities included partnering with senior IT and business leaders and external service providers to deliver various IT services across the entire enterprise.

In 2015, Eric joined Cigna as the Vice President of Information Technology for Global Infrastructure Services. Eric played a crucial role in shaping the IT strategy and driving initiatives that supported the company's global business operations. Eric then took on the role of Vice President and Acting Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in 2016, where they temporarily led the global security organization and managed a sizable team and budget.

In 2018, Eric was promoted to Senior Vice President and CTO of Global Infrastructure Services and IT Operations at Cigna. In this position, they were responsible for driving key IT technical strategy and initiatives across the organization, collaborating with senior IT and business leaders, and managing external service providers for the delivery of vital IT services.

Throughout their career, Eric has demonstrated strong leadership and expertise in IT strategy, infrastructure, and security across multiple organizations.

Eric Reed attended the University of Connecticut from 1986 to 1991, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Eric then continued their education at the same university from 1991 to 1995 and earned a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
