Job Title: Electrical Engineer 1

Location: IN-Lafayette

Remote Possibility: Onsite full time

Salary: $30-$33/hr.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The main function of an electrical test engineer is to ensure successful data collection to validate new genset designs.  This is accomplished by assisting with developing test plans and managing all aspects of genset testing for commercial, industrial, military or scientific use. A typical electrical engineer has the skills and experience to work with engineers and design details / drawings as well as technician / mechanics and test equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical task breakdown:

  • In this role the candidate will participate in test planning meetings, manage set up of test equipment, execute tests, collect data, communicate results, and manage equipment and test teardown.
  • Certain tests will require troubleshooting to ensure complete installation, accurate data collection, and innovation to develop custom test configurations.
  • Manage and maintain equipment and calibration status.

Interaction with team:

  • The position will collaborate with design engineering and facility technicians to define and execute successful genset tests as well as coordinate test cell readiness.
  • The position will provide specific details to engineers to help with resolution of problems with the test and product.

Work environment:

  • This position works in a Generator Set test cell and areas where generator sets will be assembled and instrumented for test.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology
  • 0-2 years’ experience in electrical engineering / technology

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of safe work and test practices
  • Knowledge of generator set electrical components like alternators, controls, circuit breakers, transformers and test measurement systems like national instruments
  • Experience with relevant computer applications like Microsoft Office
  • Experience with various test equipment like multimeters, soldering/harnessing, strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, proximity probes, telemetry, DAQ systems, hand tools

DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Experience working in a lab / testing environment
  • Operational and/or test knowledge of generator set and/or engines
  • Strong electrical and mechanical background
  • Experience working on a team
