Joel Thompson

Joel Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Joel currently works as a Senior Software Engineer at CircleCI since September 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Intercom from 2016 to 2020, where they held various positions including Product Engineer and Product Support Engineer. At Intercom, they were responsible for leading an A/B test to improve new user onboarding, implementing a major pricing model update, and serving as the primary point of communication between customer support and the engineering team. Before Intercom, Joel worked at FileOpen Systems Inc. as a Software Engineer and Software Development Intern from 2012 to 2016. Joel also gained experience as a Computer Systems and C Programming Course Tutor and a Differential Equations Course Grader at UC Santa Cruz School of Engineering in 2012. Additionally, Joel worked as a Technical Support Specialist at UC Santa Cruz ResNet in 2011.

Joel Thompson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering with a focus on Robotics and Control from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Joel attended this institution from 2008 to 2013.
