Haotian Gu has a strong background in research and quantitative analysis. Haotian started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Hong Kong in 2016, where they worked on a project focused on attractor-strengths in Boolean Networks and stable structures. Haotian then moved on to Cornell University in 2017 as a Research Assistant, before returning to the University of Hong Kong for another research assistant role.
In 2019, Haotian joined the University of California, Berkeley as a Research Assistant, where they worked on the intersection of games, controls, and machine learning with Prof. Xin Guo. During their time at Berkeley, they also served as a Teaching Assistant from August 2020 to May 2022.
Haotian has interned at prestigious companies such as Amazon as a Research Scientist Intern in 2021 and Citadel Securities as a Quantitative Researcher Intern in 2022. Haotian will be joining Citadel Securities as an Incoming Quantitative Researcher in July 2023.
Through their various research and internship experiences, Haotian has developed strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of quantitative research methods.
Haotian Gu completed their Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from The University of Hong Kong in 2018. During their undergraduate studies, they also attended UCLA as an exchange student in 2017, where they focused on Mathematics. In 2018, Haotian Gu enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics. Haotian is expected to graduate in 2023. Additionally, Haotian Gu obtained certifications in various machine learning topics from Coursera, including Convolutional Neural Networks, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects.
