Riccardo Murri

Riccardo Murri has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Riccardo is currently working as a Cloud Developer at Citadel Securities, starting in June 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Google as a Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer from June 2020 to May 2022.

Before their time at Google, Riccardo held the position of Systems and Applications Specialist at ETH Zürich from November 2019 to May 2020. In this role, they were responsible for planning, building, maintaining, and improving the operational infrastructure for efficient and effective delivery of research IT platforms. Riccardo also collaborated with research groups and international project partners to explore, engineer, and develop new platforms and solutions.

From July 2014 to October 2019, Riccardo worked as a Scientific Application Specialist at Services and Support for Science IT (S3IT), University of Zurich. In this role, they provided infrastructure and application consulting and support to research groups. Riccardo implemented scientific simulation and data analysis projects on large-scale computational infrastructure and also developed middleware to enable reliable and fast time-to-solution.

Prior to their tenure at S3IT, Riccardo served as a Software Architect at the Grid Computing Competence Centre, University of Zurich from February 2010 to June 2014. In this position, they helped researchers implement and run large-scale computations on computational infrastructures. Riccardo also developed software tools and infrastructure solutions for supporting large-scale computations, focusing on HPC linear algebra algorithms and computational homology algorithms.

Riccardo's career began in 2008 at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre CSCS, where they worked as a Grid Systems Engineer & Supporter. Riccardo played a significant role in the EU supercomputing project PRACE and was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the WLCG Tier-2 cluster. Riccardo managed computing systems, responded to support requests, and maintained contacts with the technical personnel of the WLCG infrastructure.

Before their role at CSCS, Riccardo worked as a Systems Administrator at Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza" in 2007, overseeing systems administration of e-learning and thesis archive systems and providing Linux and networking consulting.

From 2004 to 2007, Riccardo was a Systems Engineer at Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics. Riccardo participated in the EGRID project, where they focused on middleware development within the gLite/LCG/EDG framework and systems administration. Riccardo also contributed to the design and development of the StoRM SRMv2 server.

Riccardo's early career included a role as a Systems Administrator at Dipartimento Me.Mo.Mat., Università di Roma "La Sapienza" from 2002 to 2004. In this position, they performed server administration, implemented HA clustering, and maintained a heterogeneous network of approximately 150 computers.

Throughout their career, Riccardo Murri has gained extensive experience in cloud development, technical solutions engineering, systems and applications specialist, scientific application support, software architecture, grid systems management, systems administration, and middleware development.

Riccardo Murri completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics from Scuola Normale Superiore from 1998 to 2001. Prior to that, they attended Liceo Scientifico from 1986 to 1991 and obtained their Maturita Scientifica. The field of study for their Maturita Scientifica was not specified.
