Brian Thornton

Brian Thornton is a seasoned professional in the fields of climate policy and energy efficiency. Currently serving as a Climate Leadership Organizer for Citizens' Climate Lobby since July 2023 and as a Climate Policy Advocate for the Reno/Sparks Chapter since January 2020, Brian organizes support for national climate legislation. Previous experience includes a role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where Brian managed projects focused on energy efficiency in commercial buildings. As Commercial Solar Program Manager at Energy Trust of Oregon, Brian oversaw a $7 million incentive program for solar projects, significantly boosting installation rates. Additionally, Brian owned and operated Thornton Energy Consulting, providing expertise in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. Education credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in International/Global Studies from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Portland State University.
