Lajuan Counts

LaJuan Counts serves as the Executive Director for the City of Detroit since October 2019, having previously held various leadership roles within the organization, including Deputy Director of Operations and Assistant Director of Operations, from February 1997 to April 2019. LaJuan Counts possesses extensive experience overseeing the operations of the City’s Fleet, Ground Maintenance, Facilities, Park Development, and Building Services. Responsibilities have included managing facility maintenance for over 140 city properties, coordinating construction projects, conducting needs assessments for capital improvements, and supervising construction management teams. With a Bachelor's degree in Building Construction Technology from Michigan State University, LaJuan Counts has also contributed to public housing development and has a strong background in project management from prior roles in construction.
