Chief Development & Investment Officer, Housing & Revitalization Dept at City of Detroit

Rebecca Labov has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Rebecca most recently served as the Chief Development & Investment Officer for the Housing & Revitalization Department at the City of Detroit. Prior to this, they held positions such as Director of Preservation & Strategic Initiatives and Program Analyst at the same department. In these roles, they managed strategic initiatives for affordable housing preservation and development, including overseeing a multi-disciplinary team and leading the City's application for a federal grant.

Rebecca also has experience in the education sector, having worked as a Science Professional Learning Community Leader at Teach For America and as a Science Teacher at Southeastern High School and Detroit Public Schools. Additionally, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Michigan and gained internship experience in program evaluation at BUILD.

Before pursuing their career in education and housing, Rebecca worked as a Tutor, both independently and at Champion Learning Center. Rebecca also gained experience in architectural design as an Architectural Designer at Virtuoso Design + Build. Throughout their career, Rebecca has consistently demonstrated their dedication to education, community development, and social impact.

Rebecca Labov completed their Bachelor's degree in Architecture & Urban Studies at the University of Pennsylvania from 2004 to 2008. Rebecca later pursued a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy / Urban Planning: Housing and Community Development at the University of Michigan from 2016 to 2018. In addition to their academic achievements, they have obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in August 2022. Rebecca also holds a Michigan Teaching Certification from the State of Michigan.
