Michael Cerbone has extensive experience in community development, land use planning, and project management. Michael is currently serving as the Community Development Director for the City of Ferndale, Washington. Prior to this role, they worked as the Assistant Director of Planning and Development Services for Skagit County. Michael also served as the Land Use Planning Director for Multnomah County. Earlier in their career, they held positions such as Community Development Director for the City of Cornelius, Oregon, and Planning Service Group Leader/Project Manager for Cardno. Michael has also worked for the City of Salem as an Assistant Urban Planning Administrator and the City of Prineville as a Community Development Director. Additionally, they served as a Field Services Representative for the Oregon Downtown Development Association, where they managed downtown revitalization plans for multiple cities.
Michael Cerbone completed their Executive Master of Public Administration degree at Portland State University from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resources from Oregon State University between 1994 and 1999. Michael had also attended Ridgefield High School from 1990 to 1994. In addition to their formal education, Michael holds several certifications in emergency management and planning from institutions such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the American Planning Association.
