Mark Nelson has an extensive background in law enforcement, currently serving as the Chief of Police for the City of Grand Forks, ND, since September 1988. In this role, Mark oversees various initiatives including crime prevention, cultural liaison efforts, and management of school resource officers. Mark previously held the position of Lieutenant Community Resource Bureau Commander, where responsibilities included sex offender tracking and gas drive-offs. Prior to joining the City of Grand Forks, Mark served as a Deputy Sheriff in Ward County from May 1984 to August 1988. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Minot State University and has completed training with the FBI National Academy.
