Nicholas T. Nene, P.E.,PTOE.,PMP has extensive work experience in traffic engineering and management. NICHOLAS T. currently serves as the Director of Traffic Engineering/City Traffic Engineer for the City of Huntsville, AL since November 2022. Previously, they held the position of Deputy Director of Traffic Engineering/City Traffic Engineer from February 2021 to December 2022. Prior to joining the City of Huntsville, they worked as a Traffic Improvements Project Manager/City Traffic Engineer from February 2016 to February 2021.

Before their roles in the City of Huntsville, Nicholas worked for the Department of Transportation - Alabama, where they served as a Civil Engineer Licensed Manager in January 2016 and as an Assistant Area Traffic Engineer/Manager from October 2015 to December 2015.

NICHOLAS T. also has experience working in the Alabama Department of Transportation, where they served as an Assistant Division Traffic Engineer/Manager from May 2005 to October 2014 and as a Civil Engineer, Graduate - Bridge & Roadway Construction from June 2004 to April 2005.

Nicholas began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant in Planning at Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University from August 2003 to June 2004. NICHOLAS T. also had an internship as a GIS Intern in the Huntsville City GIS Department from February 2003 to June 2003.

Nicholas T. Nene, P.E., PTOE., PMP has a strong education background in the field of transportation planning and civil engineering.

NICHOLAS T. obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Transportation from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. The program was accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (A.B.E.T). NICHOLAS T. also pursued a minor in Mathematics during their undergraduate studies.

Nicholas further advanced their education by attending the Alabama A&M University Graduate School, where they earned a Master of Urban & Regional Planning degree with a specialization in Transportation Planning.

In addition to their formal education, Nicholas has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. NICHOLAS T. holds a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license issued by the Alabama Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors. NICHOLAS T. is also a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) through the Transportation Professional Certification Board Inc.

Furthermore, Nicholas possesses a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, indicating their competence in project management. NICHOLAS T. also holds a Part 107 UAS Remote Pilot License granted by the Federal Aviation Administration, allowing him to operate unmanned aircraft systems.

Additionally, Nicholas has acquired various certifications related to traffic signal operation and control, including Traffic Signal Technician Certification - Level 1 and Level 2 from IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association). NICHOLAS T. has also completed the Workzone Temporary Traffic Control Technician Certification offered by IMSA.

Lastly, Nicholas has participated in several training programs, including those focused on emergency support functions and leadership skills, as well as courses related to the National Incident Management System, all provided by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).
