William Abderhalden has a diverse work experience in the field of public safety and firefighting. William started their career in the United States Marine Corps, where they served as a Fire Company Officer, Fire Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief of Logistics. Following their military service, they joined the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) as Deputy State Fire Marshal and later became the State Fire Safety Supervisor. William then worked for Wright County, Minnesota as a Special Deputy/Public Safety Diver. Currently, they are serving as the Deputy Fire Chief of Prevention for the City of Maple Grove, Minnesota.

William Abderhalden began their education journey in 2003 when they attended Arizona Western College, where they obtained a Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) in 2004. William then pursued their Bachelor's of Science degree in Public Policy and Public Service with a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management at Arizona State University from 2016 to 2021.

In terms of additional certifications, William Abderhalden obtained various certifications in different fields. In January 2010, they earned the Fire Inspector I certification from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. William further enhanced their skills and knowledge by completing the Fire Inspector II certification from the same institution in January 2019. Additionally, they became a Certified Fire Inspector II (CFI-II) through The Pro Board in January 2019 and a MN Certified Fire Investigator through The Pro Board in December 2018.

William Abderhalden also gained expertise in fire service leadership. In July 2006, they obtained the Fire Officer I and Fire Officer II certifications from both the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress and The Pro Board. Furthermore, they completed the Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) certification offered by the International Association of Chiefs of Police in May 2019.

In terms of specialized training, William Abderhalden completed various courses and obtained certifications in specific areas. William obtained the Respiratory Protection OSHA 2225 certification from the U.S. Department of Labor in September 2011. Additionally, they completed the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course provided by Cape Fox Professional Services in June 2011. Furthermore, they received the Emergency Preparedness Surveyor certification from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services in September 2019, as well as the Life Safety Code Surveyor certification from the same institution in January 2016.

Within the field of scuba diving, William Abderhalden obtained multiple certifications from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). William became an Open Water Diver in October 2021, followed by the Dry Suit Diver certification in September 2022. William then achieved the Full Face Mask Diver certification in October 2022, the Rescue Diver certification in June 2023, and finally, the Advanced Open Water Diver certification in June 2023.

In terms of future educational pursuits, William Abderhalden intends to pursue a Professional Certificate in Managing Officer from the USFA, National Fire Academy, starting in 2023 and ending in 2024.
