Jason Johnson has a diverse work experience in the field of communications. Jason is currently the Deputy Director of Communications for the City of Mobile, Alabama, where they are responsible for managing the city's messaging and social media presence. Prior to this role, they worked as a Media Relations Manager for the City of Mobile, where they collaborated with news reporters and helped craft messaging for the city. Before their work in government, Jason was a News Reporter for Lagniappe Weekly, where they covered local government, court proceedings, politics, and education. Jason received numerous journalism awards for their reporting and even had their work featured on the PBS Newshour Series "Brief But Spectacular." Jason also has experience as an education reporter and photographer at The Southeast Sun and as a staff writer and photographer for Tallapoosa Publishers Inc. Additionally, they worked at WTBF 94.7 FM as a disc jockey, ad writer, and FM programmer.
Jason Johnson attended Troy University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a degree in Print Journalism with a focus on Communication and Media Studies. In 2007, they also briefly attended Enterprise State Community College for General Studies, though they did not obtain a degree from this institution.
