John McNamara

John McNamara is an experienced professional currently serving as the Alderman Ward 4 and Majority Leader for the City of New Britain since November 2023. Previous roles include Director of Institutional Advancement at Capital Community College from November 1999 to January 2022, Development Manager at Community Renewal Team from January 1993 to November 1999, and Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the University of Hartford from July 1984 to October 1991, where McNamara contributed to major initiatives alongside Presidents Stephen Joel Trachtenberg and Humphrey Tonkin. McNamara holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Boston University and has pursued further education at Central Connecticut State University, spanning from 2000 to 2010, following an early education at Lynn English High School.
