Barbara Codjoe

Barbara Codjoe, MBA - HR, aPHR has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Barbara is currently working as the Director of Human Resources at the City of Ottumwa, where they lead all HR practices and objectives and serves as the Chief Equity Officer. Prior to this role, Barbara served as a Stay-at-Home Mom for four years, taking care of their family.

Before their break, Barbara worked at Lowe's Home Improvement for several years, holding various positions. Barbara started as an Assistant Department Manager and then progressed to roles such as Sales Specialist, Installed Sales Manager, and Sales Manager. Barbara then became an Area Installation Manager, where they were responsible for recruitment, development, and retention of the 3rd party installation and repair service network for multiple stores. Barbara continued their growth at Lowe's as a Field Services Manager, overseeing contracts with third-party service providers and managing relationships with them. Finally, they served as the Regional Director of Services, leading a team of Field Service Managers responsible for the company's installation and repair service network.

Throughout their career, Barbara has demonstrated strong leadership skills, expertise in HR practices and implementation of HRIS systems, as well as a track record of building and managing successful teams.

Barbara Codjoe, MBA - HR, aPHR has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Human Resources Development from Pittsburg State University. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Management/Marketing/Labor and Employee Relations from Penn State University. Additionally, they obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree with a major focus in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Community College. Barbara also holds the Associate Professional in Human Resources® (aPHR®) certification from HRCI, which they obtained in July 2021.
