Lee Schmidt is the Director of Public Safety for the City of Pittsburgh. Lee has over 20 years of experience in the emergency medical services field, including serving as the Executive Director/Chief of West Deer Emergency Medical Services, Inc. from 1996 to 2017. In this role, they were responsible for direct patient care, payroll and scheduling, hiring and performance appraisals, day-to-day operations, grant writing, budgeting and purchasing, and developing and revising job descriptions. Lee also served as the Training/Education Coordinator and Crew Supervisor at West Deer EMS, Inc., and as a Peer Consultant at the PA Governor's Center. Prior to their career in emergency medical services, Lee worked as a Lead Sales Clerk/Business Machines Specialist at Office Depot, Inc.
Lee Schmidt has a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from Point Park University, an Associates Degree in Network Administration/Business from the Community College of Allegheny County, and a Certification in EMS Paramedic/Business/Liberal Arts from the Community College of Allegheny County. Lee also has a Business/Computer Science degree from Point Park College and a High School Diploma in General Studies from Deer Lakes High School. Finally, they have a Certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Health in PA DOH Paramedic.
