Tom Skwierawski has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over a decade. Tom recently joined the City of Revere as the Chief of Planning and Community Development in October 2022. Prior to that, they worked for the City of Fitchburg from July 2017 to October 2022, where they held the position of Executive Director of Planning and Community Development. Tom also served as the Working Cities Project Coordinator at the Montachusett Opportunity Council, Inc. from October 2014 to July 2017. Before that, Tom worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Harvard Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation in 2014. Tom also gained experience as a Gramlich Fellow at the Joint Center for Housing Studies/Neighborworks America in 2013 and as a Consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank in the same year. Tom started their professional career as a Teacher at Alief ISD from August 2008 to June 2012 after joining Teach For America as a Corps Member from July 2008 to June 2010. Tom also worked as a Planning Intern at Lowcountry Housing Trust in early 2008 and as an Assistant to the Director of Neighborhood Services at the City of Charleston for a few months in 2007.
Tom Skwierawski earned their Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies/Affairs and Political Science from the College of Charleston, which they attended from 2004 to 2008. Tom continued their education at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design from 2012 to 2014, where they obtained a Master's degree in Urban Planning.
