Ginger A.'s work experience includes a variety of roles in the public and private sectors. Ginger has served as the Chief Privacy Officer and Department Director of Data Privacy, Accountability, and Compliance for the City of Seattle since 2020. Prior to this, they worked as the Chief Privacy Officer for the City of Seattle's Information Technology Department starting in 2017, where they developed and launched the City-Wide Privacy Program. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as a Senior Privacy Manager at Microsoft, ensuring marketing programs adhered to privacy commitments and requirements. Before their public sector roles, Ginger had a successful career in sales, sales training, and marketing management, working for companies such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Johnson & Johnson, and FileNet.
Ginger A. holds a Master's degree in Infrastructure Planning and Management from the University of Washington, which they obtained from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed a BA in Political Science from Columbia University. Additionally, they pursued a course of government studies as part of their BA program at Columbia University, specifically at the University of Oxford in 1986. In 2012, they obtained a certification in Information Security and Risk Management from the University of Washington.
