Ken O'Brien

Ken O'Brien has extensive experience in the field of planning, with a career spanning over 30 years. Ken began their career at Baird Planning Associates, where they worked on various projects including the Rails-to-Trails Study and municipal plans for Paradise, Labrador City, and Wabush. Ken also contributed to an environmental report for the Ptarmigan Trail. Following this, Ken worked as a Planner II at the Newfoundland and Labrador Dept. of Municipal Affairs, where they prepared plans for several communities and provided planning advice to municipal councils and staff. Ken then joined the City of Mount Pearl as a Planner, where they contributed to the CityPlan '95 Municipal Plan review. Ken's expertise in planning led him to their role as Manager of Planning and Information at the City of St. John's, where they provided planning advice, prepared reports, and represented the City at public meetings. Ken later became the Chief Municipal Planner, overseeing a team of planners and a planning technician, evaluating rezoning applications, plan amendments, and housing and demographic information. Throughout their career, Ken has been dedicated to creating better cities and providing valuable planning advice.

Ken O'Brien received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Ken then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Queen's University.
