Ryan Young has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Ryan began their career as a Specialist in the United States ARMY, specializing in Field Artillery and Communications. After completing their military service, they worked as an Assistant Manager at Sherwin-Williams Paints before transitioning into the field of information technology.

Ryan's IT career started at College of the Mainland, where they served as a Network Administrator and Computer Technician. Ryan then moved on to Corporate Computer Products, where they worked as a Field Computer Technician, repairing and replacing hardware and installing software.

In 1997, Ryan joined Galveston Computing as a Network Technician, troubleshooting networks, hardware, and software. Ryan also gained experience in setting up disk mirroring and duplexing.

Ryan's next role was at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where they worked as a Network Support Specialist II and Desktop Technician. Ryan coordinated computer-related issues between different departments, maintained hardware and software, and worked with vendors to support operations systems.

In 2001, Ryan was recruited by the City of Galveston to rebuild their Information Technology Department. Ryan initially served as a Network Engineer and later became the Director of Technology Services. In this role, they led a small team, increasing the technology services provided and implementing new technologies.

Ryan's most recent position is as the Director of Information Technology at the City of Stafford, which they started in 2018.

Throughout their career, Ryan has demonstrated their ability to lead teams, implement new technology, and optimize operations through automation.

Ryan Young earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Microcomputer Systems Specialist from the College of the Mainland, where they studied from 1994 to 1997. Ryan later pursued higher education at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer/Information Technology Administration and Management from 2014 to 2018.
