John MacLaga

John Maclaga has extensive experience in the energy industry. John currently works at the City of Wilson as the Director of Wilson Energy. Prior to this role, they held the position of Assistant Director at the same company.

Before joining the City of Wilson, John was the Electric Utility Director at the City of Statesville.

John also had a brief stint as the Region Line Manager at EnergyUnited.

Earlier in their career, John worked at The City of Rocky Mount, where they held various roles including Engineering Manager - Energy Resources and Utilities Engineering Manager.

John started their career at Progress Energy Carolinas, where they held several positions including Senior Engineer.

John Maclaga received their Bachelor's of Science and Bachelor's of Arts degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, and Environmental Studies from North Carolina State University between 1990 and 1995. John then pursued a Master's degree in Management Science with a concentration in Operations Management from the same university, obtaining it between 1996 and 1999. Alongside their education, John Maclaga also obtained several certifications. John became a Professional Engineer through the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Registration in September 2000, as well as through the North Carolina Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors in January 2000. In December 2012, they acquired an Electrician-Limited License from the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors. Additionally, they have a certification under the name "John Michael Maclaga" from the Commonwealth of Virginia. The month and year of obtaining this certification are not specified.
