Santiago Miguel Vélez Castañeda

Santiago Miguel Vélez Castañeda has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and engineering. Santiago Miguel started their career as a CRM Intern at OFFCORSS C.I. HERMECO S.A., where they focused on association rules and machine learning techniques for email marketing campaigns and customer data improvement. Santiago Miguel then joined iDATA® - inteligencia analítica de clientes as a Data Scientist, leading various projects such as time series forecasting, anomaly detection, and operationalization of data science developments in a Colombian oil & gas company. Santiago later worked at Globant as a Senior Data Scientist, where they developed machine learning models for software development, automatic sequence summarization, and search engine optimization. Santiago Miguel then joined Microsoft as a Cloud Solution Architect for Data & AI, where they worked on projects related to fraud detection, call speech-to-text transcription, and technical guidance for a 5G RAN rollout. Most recently, Santiago is working at Definely as a Senior NLP Engineer and currently holds the position of Lead Data Scientist at Plural.

Santiago Miguel Vélez Castañeda has a diverse education history. Santiago Miguel began their academic journey in 2013 at the Universidad de Medellín, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. Santiago Miguel completed their undergraduate studies in 2017.

In 2019, Santiago furthered their education by enrolling in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where they pursued a specialization in Analytics. Santiago Miguel successfully completed the program in 2020.

Seeking an advanced degree, Santiago Miguel Vélez Castañeda joined the Université de Montréal in 2021. Here, they are currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, which is expected to be completed in 2023.

In addition to their formal education, Santiago has further enhanced their skills and knowledge through various certifications. In 2018, they obtained the "Exam 773: Analyzing Big Data with Microsoft R" certification from Microsoft. Santiago also holds multiple certifications from Microsoft, including "Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate," "Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate," and "Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate," which they obtained in 2021 and 2020, respectively. Furthermore, they completed the "Deep Learning Specialization" certification from Coursera in 2020.
