Jared Genova

Jared Genova has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles related to urban planning, resilience, and community development. Jared is currently working as a Senior Planner in the Community Planning and Resilience department at Civix since 2021. Prior to that, they served as a Partner in Urban Strategy and Development at Umbrella Collaborative, L3C, a multi-disciplinary team specializing in urban development and cultural planning. Jared co-founded the organization and worked with clients from the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

In 2019, Jared worked as the Consulting Strategy and Business Development Lead at ISeeChange. Before that, they were an Urban Resilience and Cultural Heritage Consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). In this role, they conducted research, developed white papers, and coordinated site visits for technical experts and government officials.

Jared also has experience working in the public sector. Jared served as the Resilience Planning + Strategy Manager for the City of New Orleans from 2016 to 2018, where they coordinated the implementation of resilience and climate action strategies and managed external relationships and networks. Prior to that, they worked as a Fellow and Resilience Project Manager at the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority as part of the 100 Resilient Cities initiative by The Rockefeller Foundation.

Before their work in the field of urban planning and resilience, Jared gained experience as an independent consultant, carrying out various projects in planning, design, communication, and strategy. Jared also worked as a Planner and Urban Designer at McCann Adams Studio, focusing on sustainable development planning through public participation and technical analysis.

Jared has strong political experience as well, having worked as a Legislative Aide and Constituent Services provider for the New York City Council. Jared also served as an Admissions Ambassador at New York University, assisting potential students and families in their inquiries about the university.
