John Lyon has extensive work experience in the aviation industry. John began their career as a Lineman at the International Flight Center from 1986 to 1989. In 1990, they worked as an Intern at the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority before joining the New Orleans Aviation Board as a Telecommunications Manager. John held this role for an impressive 23 years, until 2013. Following that, John joined GCR Inc. as a Senior Airport Systems Manager in 2013. Currently, they are working as a Product Manager at Civix since July 2020.
John Lyon obtained their MBA in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the University of New Orleans, graduating in 2002. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies from 1985 to 1990 at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), where they earned a degree in Aerospace Administration with a focus on Psychology. In 2012, John took an online continuing education course in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from Stanford University. Additionally, in 1993, they participated in two separate continuing education programs at the Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in Geographical Information Systems and Decision Making, as well as Airport Noise and Land Use Planning. Lastly, John engaged in an online continuing education class on Unmanned Aerospace Systems (UAS) – Key Concepts for New Users from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which they completed in 2016.
