Appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Clancy Docwra in 2016 Matt is responsible for overseeing the business operations within the company.
Prior to this role Matt joined the main board Director in April 2013 where he was responsible for Bid Management, Estimating and Information Services, together with the operational role of ensuring the successful delivery of the works for South East Water. He is also the first third generation member of the Clancy family to join the Clancy Docwra board thereby supporting the ‘Secure’ element of the Group’s 6S Vision.
Looking towards AMP6 and beyond Matt’s role is to ensure the retention of the existing client base whilst developing and securing new opportunities with either existing clients or targeted others. With a more internal focus he also has responsibility for the ‘Systems’ element of the 6S vision which demands provision of technological systems and processes that are innovative, effective and fit for purpose.
Along with his fellow Directors Matt has a key leadership role in driving the business towards the achievement of it stated ambitions as well as the development of its future strategy.
Born in London in 1979, Matt first joined the business in 1997 working as an Operative for a 6 month stint prior to starting an Economics degree in Bristol and then again on a part time basis from 2001 working in various roles within both the rail division and head office.
He joined the business full-time in 2004 working first in the Business System Management team before moving to the Thames Water Victorian Water Mains Replacement Contract as a Project Manager. In 2007, Matt moved to Scotland as Performance Manager and was instrumental in establishing the company’s new office in Livingston and for driving the integration of the Scottish business.
Matt gained his MBA at Cass Business School between 2009 -10, and on his return was appointed Regional Manager for the Anglian Water Metering Contract. Here he built a successful team that in 2012 received the clients ‘Supplier of the Year Award’. Matt was made an Associate Director in January 2012.
Married to Claire, they have two young sons, Charles and Hugo and daughter Alannah.
Before joining the business full-time, Matt was a professional Rugby Union player, enjoying success with London Irish and at an International level, playing 7’s rugby for England with whom he won the Hong Kong 7’s in 2003.
Hobbies include golf, skiing, and no surprises, watching rugby!
