Steve Baker has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Steve started their career in 1995 as a Manager in Aircraft Engineering Support at the Royal Air Force, where they were responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling maintenance activities. In 1997, they moved on to become the Aircraft Engineering Operations Manager, overseeing a team of technicians and civilian staff supporting 30 aircraft.
In 1999, Steve transitioned to the Ministry of Defence as a Systems Support Project Manager for the Eurofighter aircraft international project. Steve managed a budget of £40m and was accountable for procurement, contract negotiation, and coordination with partner companies and suppliers.
After their stint at the Ministry of Defence, Steve joined House of Fraser in 2001 as a Sales and Marketing Adviser, where they worked until 2006. Following that, they joined Reed Exhibitions as a VIP Inward Visits Manager, responsible for event management, visitor promotion, and arranging and managing corporate hospitality for government officials and military stakeholders visiting international defence exhibitions.
Currently, Steve is a part of Clarion Defence & Security Ltd, where they hold the position of Head of Defence Engagement. In this role, they direct and manages top-level VIP, Ministerial, and Royal visits to international trade events and oversees the implementation of correct protocol and etiquette. Steve has established a VIP "centre of excellence" for visiting international government bodies and military authorities, delivering a visitor experience that others strive to emulate.
Steve Baker attended Cranfield University from 1991 to 1993, where they pursued a degree in Aeronautical Systems Engineering. During their time at Cranfield, Steve studied a wide range of subjects including Aircraft Design, Aerodynamics, Structural Engineering, Maths, Fluid Dynamics, and Thermodynamics. After completing their degree, Steve then enrolled at the Royal Air Force Academy of Specialist Aircraft Engineering to pursue a Batchelor of Engineering.
