Cherise Y. Peters is the current Vice President for Enrollment Management & Retention at Clark Atlanta University. Cherise has held this position since April of 2017. Prior to their current role, Ms. Peters served as the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Jacksonville State University from May 2016 to April 2017, and before that as the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Miles College from June 2014 to May 2016.
Ms. Peters has been instrumental in spearheading comprehensive operations of the Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid teams at both Jacksonville State University and Miles College. Cherise has also effectively managed budgets of $12M and $5M respectively. In their role at Clark Atlanta University, they are responsible for a $17M budget.
Ms. Peters has developed and delivered five-year Strategic Enrollment Plans to the Presidents and Boards of both Jacksonville State University and Miles College within their first six months of each role, earning immediate unanimous approval each time. Cherise has also successfully increased enrollment in each successive term by 5-8% through broad national and international marketing campaigns, as well as capitalizing on retention strategies.
Peters has a Ph.D. in Research, Measurements, and Statistics from Georgia State University, a Certificate in Management in Leadership Education from Harvard University, and a Masters in Human Resources Management from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University. Cherise is also an Inaugural Fellow of the HBCU Executive Leadership Institute at Clark Atlanta University. Cherise has certification from Harvard Business School in Masters in Leadership Education.
