Group and Operations Engineer at ClearSpace

Gabriel Tornare has diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Gabriel started their career as a Machining Intern at ETML, where they gained experience in machining. Gabriel then joined EPFL Rocket Team as an Avionics Structural Engineer and later became the Avionics Team Leader. In this role, they supervised the avionics subsystem, managed projects and teams, and collaborated with various disciplines.

Following that, Gabriel interned at RUAG Space, where they prepared the Martian soil testing facility and performed tests on the ETH SpringBock robot. Gabriel also developed an optimization tool for computing the static stiffness of a mechanism mount.

Gabriel then joined the Swiss Armed Forces as a Recruit and underwent NCO school, focusing on team management, technical instruction, and operations planning. Gabriel became a Sergeant in the Practical Service and worked as a Team Leader in the Space Domain, analyzing and characterizing objects in orbit, maintaining catalogs, and predicting collision risks. Gabriel also contributed to space situational awareness and software development.

Currently, Gabriel is employed at ClearSpace as a Group and Operations Engineer. Their responsibilities include designing and improving a mission analysis tool based on Space Resident Objects, maintaining and analyzing the SRO catalogue for Active Debris Removal mission opportunities, developing operative tools for space system overview, and collaborating with the Space Domain of the Armed Forces.

Overall, Gabriel Tornare has demonstrated expertise in space engineering, project management, and technical analysis through their work experiences in various positions and organizations.

Gabriel Tornare has a solid education history in engineering. Gabriel completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Microengineering at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2015 to 2018. Following their bachelor's degree, they pursued further studies and obtained a Master's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the same institution from 2018 to 2021.

In 2021, Gabriel Tornare took the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the field of Aerospace and robotics engineering by completing a Master's thesis at the University of Bern.

In addition to their academic achievements, Gabriel Tornare obtained the SALT Leadership certificate from the Swiss Association for Leadership Training in March 2022.
