Nicholas Rigas

Nicholas Rigas has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Nicholas currently works as a CTE Teacher at Asheville High School. Prior to this, they held various positions at Clemson University, including Associate Vice President for Strategic Research Initiatives and Executive Director of CU ICAR. At Clemson University, they were responsible for the development and management of a graduate education campus focused on advanced materials, energy systems, IT, water ecology, and logistics. Nicholas also served as the Executive Director and was the principal investigator on multi-million dollar grants to build a wind turbine drivetrain testing facility and a grid simulator.

Before working at Clemson University, Nicholas Rigas was the Vice President of EcoEnergy LLC, a renewable energy company. Nicholas'srole involved focusing on the development of wind, biomass, and energy storage projects in the upper Midwest. Nicholas successfully managed and negotiated the sale of the company's energy portfolio to key utility stakeholders.

Early in their career, Nicholas Rigas worked at FMC where they held the position of Manufacturing and Technology Director. In this role, they managed multi-million dollar budgets for international manufacturing facilities and research and development related to lithium-based materials. Nicholas was also responsible for expanding product offerings and capacities at manufacturing sites in the US and Argentina. Additionally, they played a key role in the acquisition and expansion of FMC's business in Asia, Europe, and South America.

Overall, Nicholas Rigas has a strong background in education, strategic research initiatives, renewable energy, and manufacturing and technology management.

Nicholas Rigas received their Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University, which they attended from 1986 to 1988. Nicholas then pursued a Doctor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis from 1988 to 1991.
