Derek Eek

Derek Eek is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in applications engineering and mechanical maintenance. Currently serving as a Senior Applications Engineer at Cleveland-Cliffs since July 2018, Derek focuses on research and innovation for automotive and specialty applications. Prior to this role, Derek worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Manager at United States Steel Corporation, overseeing finishing operations for hot-dip galvanizing from June 2013 to July 2018. Derek's career began with an internship in maintenance and engineering at Gerdau North America in 2012, where responsibilities included rotary caster maintenance. Derek holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Michigan Technological University, earned in 2013, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology / Controls from the same institution.
