Jon Laughlin has a strong background in quality engineering and management. Jon currently holds the position of Lead Quality Engineer at Cleveland-Cliffs since April 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the Quality Manager-Strip Steel at Cleveland-Cliffs from June 2021 to April 2022. Before joining Cleveland-Cliffs, they served as the Manager of Quality Engineering and Metallurgy at JSW Steel (USA) Inc. from December 2020 to April 2021. Jon also worked as a Quality Control Manager at Pietro Fiorentini USA, Inc. from January 2020 to December 2020. Jon gained experience as a Quality Engineer at TMK IPSCO from December 2017 to January 2020. Previously, they held the role of Quality Manager at Silgan Plastics from April 2016 to August 2017 and served as the Quality Assurance Manager at Ball Corporation from July 2015 to March 2016. Jon has a strong early career history, starting as a Quality Process Engineer at PTC Alliance from March 2008 to April 2009, and then as a Quality Manager from April 2009 to July 2015. Before moving into the quality field, they worked as a Quality Engineer at Precision Coil, Inc. from January 2004 to March 2008. Jon began their career as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic-Internship at Pratt & Whitney in June 2001. Their earliest work experience was as an Operator at GrafTech International from February 1996 to May 2000.
Jon Laughlin attended The University of Akron from an unknown start date to 2013, where they studied Workforce Development and Training. Prior to that, they attended Fairmont State University from 1999 to 2002, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. In terms of additional certifications, Jon obtained the following: ISO 9001:2000 Lead Auditor for Automotive Sector (ISO/TS 16949:2002) from Omnex Inc in September 2005, ISO/TS 16949:2002 Internal Auditor from The PIC Group in September 2004, and Skills For An Empowered Workforce-Facilitator from Development Dimensions International in December 1996.
