Daniel Swain

Climate Advisor at ClimateCheck

Daniel Swain is a Climate Scientist and Assistant Researcher at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability since September 2018. Simultaneously, Daniel serves as a C3WE Research Fellow at the National Center for Atmospheric Research and holds positions as a Climate Advisor at both Reask and ClimateCheck. As the Founder and Author of weatherwest.com since June 2006, Daniel has established a notable presence in climate communication. Additionally, Daniel worked as a California Climate Fellow for The Nature Conservancy until June 2024 and was a Meteorological Advisor at BloomSky, Inc. from January 2014 to December 2021. Prior experience includes a NatureNet Postdoctoral Fellowship at UCLA and a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant role at Stanford University, where Daniel earned a PhD in Earth System Science. Daniel holds a B.S. in Atmospheric Science from the University of California, Davis.
