Jacob Carter has extensive work experience in the sailing industry. Jacob started their career in 2007 running a small yacht refurbishment business, specializing in yacht refurbishments, part purchasing and resale, and paint jobs. This experience allowed him to fund their participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and purchase their own yacht at the age of 17. In 2015, they founded Jake Carter Sailing, offering freelance skipper services for RYA training, racing, deliveries, and corporate/teambuilding events. As a skipper and instructor, they emphasize safety, professionalism, and thorough planning to ensure successful voyages. Their most recent role is Chief Instructor at Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, starting in 2022.
Jacob Carter attended South Downs College from 2009 to 2012, where they pursued A Levels. Jacob then went on to study at The Open University from 2017 to 2022, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA hons) degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, with a focus on Social Sciences.
