Cecil Cates

Cecil Cates has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Cecil began their career in 1979 as a Software Development Manager at AT&T, where they later became a Senior Product Planner and played a key role in the commercialization of the Caller-Identification patent. From 1995 to 2005, Cecil worked at Lucent Technologies as the Vice President of Business Development, where they managed a team responsible for identifying and delivering new sales opportunities, leading to a $1 billion settlement from a major software company. Following their tenure at Lucent, Cecil joined the New Jersey Schools Development Authority as the Senior Manager of Process Management and Training, where they successfully implemented construction management software, resulting in the opening of 22 new schools. Cecil then worked as the Operations Manager at ADT Security Services Inc, where they increased inventory turns and ensured profitability. In 2010, Cecil founded CMIT Solutions of Northern Union County, where they served as President and provided tailored IT solutions to small businesses. Currently, Cecil is a Board Member at the Union Township Chamber of Commerce.

Cecil Cates completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration/Computer Science at Winston-Salem State University from 1976 to 1979. Following this, they pursued further studies in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications at Duke University, Fuqua School of Business. It is unclear when they attended this program or if they obtained a degree from it. Later, Cecil acquired a Master of Science degree in Management from the Stevens Institute of Technology. The exact duration of their enrollment at this institute is unknown.
