James McAra CFA, CPA, CA, CBV has a diverse work experience. James currently holds the position of VP of Finance at CMLS Financial since December 2023. James also works as a Consultant, being self-employed since June 2023.

Prior to their current roles, James worked extensively at CMLS Financial, starting as a Controller in December 2019 and later becoming the Director of Finance in April 2021. James held these positions until May 2023.

James also gained experience as a Consultant at Exhibau from August 2019 to December 2019. Before that, they worked as the Director of Finance at Indaba Trading Ltd from November 2017 to July 2019.

James began their career as a Financial Analyst at Seaspan Ship Management Ltd. in November 2015. James then joined PwC as a Senior Associate in September 2012, serving in that role until October 2015.

James McAra obtained a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction in Entrepreneurship from the University of Victoria from 2008 to 2011. James then became a Chartered Accountant at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia from 2013 to 2014. James went on to pursue a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation at the CFA Institute from 2015 to 2017. Additionally, during the same period, they also achieved the title of Chartered Business Valuator at the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.
