Daniel Garey has a diverse work experience in various fields. Most recently, they are working at Co-Diagnostics, Inc as a Scientist 1, Team Lead, and Site Supervisor. In this role, they are responsible for designing and optimizing the chemistry for diagnostic PCR tests. Daniel has also created a novel and rapid assay for commercial use. Daniel is currently collaborating closely with engineers who are building a thermocycler for assay development.
Prior to their current role, Daniel worked at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital as a Specialist TAEA in the Internal Medicine department. Here, they worked closely with a small team to identify and classify sickness in patients. Daniel used lab assays and surgical procedures for diagnosis.
Daniel also has experience as a Teacher at Science Matters In Colo LLC, where they educated children in STEM subjects during an after-school club. Daniel created a fun and safe environment for kids to learn and experiment with science concepts.
In addition, Daniel worked as a Research Specialist 1 at Shriners Hospitals for Children - Portland. Daniel worked on a team to identify the mechanism of achondroplasia and thanatophoric dysplasia due to mutations in FGFR3. Daniel conducted experiments and analyzed protein abundance and phosphorylation.
Daniel also has experience as a Field Technician Intern at the Siskiyou Deer and Puma Project at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Daniel collected biological samples and processed them for genetic screening.
Furthermore, Daniel worked as a Project Manager at The Exhibit Source, where they provided trade show services to multiple clients and ensured timely fabrication and quality control.
Prior to that, they worked as a Lab Technician at the Maier-Watkins research facility at the University of Colorado, where they conducted experiments and cared for research animals. Daniel also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder, co-teaching an upper division undergraduate laboratory section.
Lastly, Daniel worked as a Field Research Assistant at the University of Houston, where they conducted research on Harvester Ant colonies and published a paper on their survival in Ecology. Daniel operated in extreme desert conditions and collected rare halite samples for laboratory breeding and genetic screening.
Daniel Garey completed their Bachelor's degree in Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology and Neuroscience from the University of Colorado Boulder. Daniel attended the university from 2012 to 2016.
