Michael James has a diverse work history, beginning in 2012 as an Account Executive at Saatchi & Saatchi and as a Marketing Consultant for Bluebells Cakery. In 2014, they took on roles as an Independent Consultant and Account Executive at FUSE Asia Pacific. Michael then joined Icebreaker as a Global Social Media Manager in 2016, and Bauer Media Group as an Audience Development Manager, Head of Video, and Growth Director. Most recently, they began working as a Growth Marketing at Coast in 2022. Throughout their career, they have been responsible for directing user acquisition, engagement, and affiliate monetization strategies, growing average monthly site sessions, launching a digital marketing services business unit, resetting video content strategies, managing brand social media channels, and creating content for agency clients.

Michael James completed a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Auckland, majoring in Psychology & Philosophy from 2008 to 2011. In 2012, they obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Communication Studies from Auckland University of Technology, majoring in Public Relations. Additionally, they have obtained three certifications: Transitioning to Product Management from LinkedIn in February 2022, Learning Cultural Strategy for Design from LinkedIn in June 2019, and Google Ads Display Certification from Google in April 2022.
