Sterling Brown has a strong background in technology and software engineering. Sterling has held various leadership roles throughout their career. Brown is currently employed as a Software Engineer IV at COFENSE starting in April 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Channel Lister LLC as the Chief Technology Officer from June 2016 to April 2020. At Channel Lister, they used modern Java 8+ development stack and built a build/test/deploy pipeline to AWS using Docker, Bash, and Gradle.
Before their time at Channel Lister, Brown was the Chief Technology Officer at RezzCard from September 2013 to June 2016. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining a RoR payment processing system and transitioning to a modern cloud-based infrastructure on AWS using Chef, Docker, and other cloud building blocks.
From January 2010 to September 2013, Brown worked as the Chief Technology Officer at NextLevel Mobile, LLC. Sterling designed and built a real-time mobile payments and communications platform using C#, Azure, and Azure SQL and NoSQL storage services.
Prior to that, Brown served as a Database and Web Architect at SecureWatch24 from June 2009 to December 2010. Sterling was responsible for the redesign of a security monitoring service, utilizing .Net and MS SQL Server.
From September 2007 to June 2009, Brown worked as an Ecommerce System Integrator at InfoMorph, LLC. Sterling interfaced directly with clients, gathered requirements, and integrated various ecommerce systems into back-end systems.
Brown's earlier career includes positions at Information Builders from 1994 to 2007. Sterling served as a Technical Director, managing a team of developers and initiating technical design document repositories. Sterling also held roles as a Programming Manager, Programming Project Leader, and Senior Software Engineer, where they contributed to various development projects and played a key role in stabilizing a graphing and charting sub-system.
From 1988 to 1991, Sterling Brown attended Pace University, where they studied Computer Science. They did not obtain a degree during this time. In addition, Sterling obtained a certification in Fundamentals of Deep Learning from NVIDIA in March 2023.
