Colin McNeece

Director, Field Engineering at Cognite

Colin McNeece, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries.

Colin is currently working at Cognite as a Technical Sales Director, a role they started in June 2023.

Prior to that, Colin worked at Slalom as a Senior Consultant in Strategy & Operations from February 2022 to May 2023.

From 2018 to 2022, they held multiple roles at Enthought, including Director of Solution Architect, Director of Transformation Services, Manager of Transformation Services, and Scientific Software Developer. In these positions, they were responsible for driving sales, managing client relationships, delivering business consulting and software development activities, and designing and developing scientific and technical applications.

Colin also worked as a Visiting Researcher at The University of Texas at Austin from August 2019 to January 2022. Before that, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at the same university from June 2013 to May 2018.

Colin gained valuable experience as a Graduate Student Intern at SINTEF, where they implemented geochemistry into the reservoir simulator MRST in 2017, and at Sandia National Laboratories in 2015.

Colin started their career as a Geologist at Arcadis in 2013, where they conducted site investigation, remediation, and monitoring of contaminated groundwater. Colin also worked as a Staff Geologist at Winzler and Kelly | GHD in 2011, where they conducted investigation, remediation, and monitoring of groundwater sites contaminated with organic solvents.

In addition to their professional experience, Colin has also served as a Substitute Teacher at Piedmont Unified School District from November 2011 to December 2012, leading K-12 classes and designing and implementing teaching material.

Colin McNeece, PhD, has a comprehensive educational background in the field of Geological Sciences. Colin pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from 2013 to 2018 at The University of Texas at Austin. Before that, they completed their Master's degree in Earth and Planetary Science at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2010 to 2011. Colin also holds a Bachelor's degree in Geology from the same institution, which they obtained from 2007 to 2010.

In addition to their academic achievements, Colin McNeece has obtained a certification in project management. Specifically, they completed the "PMI - The Complete Agile Project Manager" certification offered by the Project Management Institute in December 2018.
