With more than 29 years of healthcare experience Carmen is a highly accomplished nursing leader. Her experience includes acute care, quality assurance performance improvement, regulatory compliance, public health, critical access hospitals, psychiatric care, and subacute/long term care. Additionally, Carmen is a Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Home Administrator.
Carmen enjoys teaching at the local college of nursing and providing care for patients as a Nurse Practitioner. Previously, she was a long-term care and complaint surveyor. She also completed a term on the Informal Dispute Resolution Committee for Colorado Department of Public Health and environment. She has been called to deliver expert testimony for clinical concerns with legal cases.
Carmen attended Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Carmen then pursued a Master of Science in Management and graduated from Keuka College, Keuka Park, NY. Later, she pursued her interest in Nurse Practitioner and graduated with honors from Walden University with her Master of Science in Nursing with a subspecialty in Adult Gerontological Primary Care. She is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and licensed in the State of Colorado while maintaining her compact license in nursing. She is currently completing her DNP with a secondary certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Carmen is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing; and was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success.
