Jennifer Dering

Jennifer Dering, PE, CEM has over 30 years of extensive work experience in the field of electrical engineering and energy management. Jennifer is currently employed as the Discipline Leader for the Electrical Engineering Department at Colliers Engineering & Design, where they oversee the implementation of overhead and underground transmission line installations for power transmission, substation, and generation facilities. Prior to this, they served as the Geographic Discipline Leader for the Electrical Engineering Department at Maser Consulting.

Jennifer also has experience working in the energy industry, having served as the Director of Bid and Proposal and Project Execution at Nexans High Voltage USA, where they managed underground transmission line installations and led project teams. Additionally, they held the role of Director of Commercial Operations and Project Management at The Valley Group, a Nexans Company, where they were responsible for multiple overhead transmission line monitoring projects.

Their notable experience includes working at the New York Power Authority, where they served as the Manager of Operations Planning and handled various responsibilities related to the security and reliability of bulk power transmission, substation, and generation facilities. Jennifer also worked on power generation projects, such as the Seymour to Greenwood Interconnection Project and the Niagara Power Project, where they served as a Senior Project Engineer and Acting Project Manager.

Earlier in their career, Jennifer worked as a Senior Electrical Engineer at Power Generation Power Systems and was involved in projects related to the life extension and modernization of the Robert Moses Facility. Jennifer also worked as a Senior Project Engineer on the In City Generation Project, where they managed the design, procurement, and construction of multiple generating stations and substation interconnections.

Jennifer's career began as a Conservation Engineer at Energy Efficiency and Technology, where they managed turnkey energy efficiency projects throughout New York State.

Jennifer Dering, PE, CEM completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont in the years 1987-1991. Following that, they pursued a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering from 1992-1996. Jennifer also obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the same institute from 1992-1995. Jennifer holds additional certifications, including being a Professional Engineer in multiple states (Georgia, Michigan, South Carolina, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Vermont, Connecticut, Oregon, Florida, and Texas) as well as being a C-10 Electrical Contractor in California. Jennifer is also a NY State Licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Energy Manager accredited by the Association of Energy Engineers. Furthermore, Jennifer completed a Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia University - Columbia Business School during the years 2011-2013.
