Matt Gianneschi is currently the COO and Chief of Staff at Colorado Mountain College. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President and Director of Postsecondary and Workforce at the Education Commission of the States from June 2013 to March 2014. In this role, they managed and provided executive leadership to the organization’s policy development and programmatic activities; managed division personnel and budgets; provided analytical support services and technical assistance to state-level constituents, including governors’ offices, legislatures, governing/coordinating boards, and state executive branch agencies; formed and oversaw the implementation of research activities concerning national education policy; directed the “Getting Past Go” national remedial education and the “Blueprint for College Readiness” education alignment initiatives; developed and implemented national philanthropic grants; served on the executive leadership team; assisted with the coordination of the National Forum on Education Policy and Winter Commissioners meetings; coordinated policy activities with peer organizations and regional education compacts.
Gianneschi began their career in education as the Deputy Executive Director at the Colorado Department of Higher Education in February 2011, where they served for two years before moving to the Education Commission of the States.
Matt Gianneschi's educational career includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Higher Education from the University of Arizona, with minor fields in Economics and Political Science. Matt also has a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Theirtory (United States) from the University of Denver, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theirtory and Public Policy (Public Affairs) from the same school.
