Principal Horn at Colorado Symphony

Michael Thornton is a distinguished musician and educator with extensive experience in horn performance. Currently serving as a Professor and Associate Professor of Horn at the University of Colorado Boulder since August 1999, Michael Thornton teaches aspiring musicians in performance, education, and arts administration. As the Principal Horn of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra since September 1997, Michael Thornton performs classical music concerts in the greater Denver region. Additionally, Michael Thornton is the Proprietor and Musician for Colorado Alphorn Events, providing unique musical ensembles for various events, and previously held the position of Principal Horn with the Honolulu Symphony from September 1996 to July 1997. Michael Thornton holds a Bachelor's degree in Horn Performance from Temple University and attended The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music for graduate studies in horn.
