Scott Vass

Project Manager - Southeast Asia at Colorcon

Scott Vass has over two decades of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Scott began their career in 1998 as a Scientist at Johnson & Johnson, where they were responsible for evaluating the properties of raw materials and finished products. Scott also led the stability program and oversaw the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

In 2005, Scott joined Colorcon® as a Senior Product Development Scientist. During their time there, they independently identified customer needs and developed new products for the pharmaceutical market. Scott collaborated with various teams and departments, including product development, quality control, and marketing. Scott also maintained confidentiality for sensitive information related to formulas and processes.

In 2013, Scott was promoted to Principal Scientist, where they provided technical leadership to a team of scientists and technicians. Scott trained and coached the team to deliver project objectives successfully.

Scott later transitioned to the role of Quality Control Manager, where they implemented and managed quality control systems to ensure the production of high-quality products. Scott designed and implemented an Environmental Monitoring program to meet regulatory certifications.

In 2021, Scott took on the position of Special Project Manager, where they led operational excellence projects and collaborated globally to enhance organizational effectiveness. Scott utilized continuous improvement and LEAN principles to improve productivity, quality, and cost reduction.

Currently, Scott holds two concurrent roles at Colorcon®. Scott serves as the Chair of the Global Operational Technology Review Board (OTRB), providing strategic advice and counsel for the harmonization of laboratory and manufacturing technologies. Scott also works as a Project Manager for Southeast Asia, overseeing projects in the region.

Throughout their career, Scott has demonstrated a strong ability to provide technical leadership, drive operational excellence, and deliver successful projects.

Scott Vass has a diverse education history. In 1996, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Scott furthered their studies with a Master of Science degree in Engineering from Lehigh University, which they completed in 2013. In 1992, Scott earned a BS degree in Chemistry from West Virginia University.

Scott also pursued additional certifications throughout their career. In 2007, they obtained multiple certifications in emergency preparedness and response from the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADOH) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). Scott gained over 60 certifications in this field.

In terms of more recent certifications, Scott completed a certification in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) from Alchemy Academy in 2020. Scott also underwent Basic and Intermediate training for Nividous Studio, specializing in Robotic Process Automation (RPA), at Nividous in 2022.

Looking towards the future, Scott plans to pursue a certification in Project Management from Cornell University. The program is set to be completed in 2023.
