Hugo Souza

Hugo Souza is an accomplished oboist with extensive experience in various prestigious ensembles. Currently serving as an Oboist with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center since July 2022 and as Principal Oboe with the Columbus Symphony since September 2019, Hugo has also held the position of Acting Principal Oboe at the Chautauqua Institution and performed with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra for three summer seasons, where Hugo was a finalist for the principal oboe position in the 2023 season. Additional performances include roles with the American Symphony Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, as well as guest appearances at the Music@Menlo festival. Hugo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Oboe performance and literature (ABD) from the Eastman School of Music, an Advanced Certificate in Oboe Performance from NYU Steinhardt, and a Master's degree in Oboe Performance from Purchase College, SUNY.
