Melissa Maxfield serves as Senior Vice President of Federal Government Affairs and is a Corporate Officer for Comcast NBCUniversal. In this role, she is responsible for all legislative issues for Congress and the Administration, all political activities for the company in Washington, DC, along with corporate affairs. She also co-manages the Company’s corporate office in Washington, DC.
Prior to joining Comcast in 2003, Melissa served as the top political staffer for Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota (1999-2003). She also worked on Senator Daschle’s re-election campaign (1996-1998) and served as his political liaison at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). Melissa worked for Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska during his 1992 Presidential campaign, his 1994 Senate re-election campaign and at the DSCC during his Chairmanship from 1995-1996. She also worked for Senator Bill Nelson during his 1990 Florida gubernatorial campaign.
Melissa was named among the Top Corporate Lobbyists in Washington in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, by The Hill newspaper and as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s 100 Most Powerful Women in 2015. She was also named among the Most Powerful Women in Cable in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 by CableFAX: The Magazine and as one of Multichannel’s Wonder Women in 2015. Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, VA. She is active with several charity organizations, including the March of Dimes, The Kevin Spacey Foundation and The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation. She serves on the honorary board for the N Street Village and was the recipient of its Founder’s Award in 2016. Melissa also serves on the boards of WILL (Wilderness Leadership & Learning, Inc.) Tracy’s Kids and the Boys and Girls Club Regional Board. Additionally, she is a member Susan G. Komen’s National board and the Faith and Politics Institute’s corporate advisory board.
